Media group Atresmedia and property developer Labtech have co-led a $20m series C round for UK-based online event discovery platform Fever, TechCrunch reported today.
Venture capital firms Accel and 14W Ventures joined the corporates in the round, which boosted Fever’s funding to about $43m altogether.
Fever has created a curated social discovery platform for events and activities covering 13 cities including London, Manchester, Paris, Madrid, Ibiza, New York and Los Angeles. The platform has about 12 million unique users a week according to Fever.
The company also runs an online media operation known as Secret Media Network which focuses on activities for each city, and intends to use data gathered through the platform to promote its own branded events.
The series C cash will fund an expansion into additional cities in Europe and North America. Fever raised $3m from various angel investors in 2014 before adding $8.3m in series A funding from Accel, 14W and investment and financial services group Fidelity in 2015.
All three investors returned for a $12m series B round closed by Fever later the same year, investing together with Solon Inversiones, according to Novobrief.
Javier Nuche, Atresmedia’s managing director of diversification, said in a statement: “With this investment we are consolidating our presence in the fast-growing experience economy and digital marketing space.
“Fever’s ability to mobilise a digital audience together with its optimisation technology has proven extremely valuable for advertisers and will create very significant commercial synergies with Atresmedia, in our goal to offer the best communication solutions to our clients.”
