Fielding leaves BBC to join Techstars

Jenny Fielding, formerly the head of digital ventures for broadcaster BBC, has joined startup accelerator US-based Techstars as managing director of its R/GA Connected Devices programme.

The scheme is conducted by Techstars alongside digital advertising agency R/GA, and will involve 10 startups progressing through the three-month accelerator. The startups will be housed on R/GA’s New York campus and will be eligible for $120,000 in seed funding.

Fielding previously spent three years in California from 2011 exploring digital growth opportunities for BBC Worldwide, founding digital media accelerator BBCW Labs in the process.

“After several years going into corporate battle, it’s time for me to get back to my entrepreneurial roots and help build great companies,” Fielding said.

“My new role at Techstars will leverage and build on my experiences of the last few years running ventures for the BBC Worldwide and founding Labs, an accelerator focused on the intersection of media and technology.

Prior to the BBC, Fielding was the chief operating office for merchant banking boutique Wodan Capital after stints at investment bank JP Morgan Chase, voice-over-internet-protocol company Switch Mobile, which she co-founded, and Via One.
