US-based construction project management platform developer Fieldwire has received $33.5m in funding from investors including building materials supplier Hilti Group.
The round was led by venture capital firm Menlo Ventures and also featured Brick and Mortar Ventures and Formation 8.
Founded in 2013, Fieldwire markets a mobile app used on more than 500,000 construction projects to improve communication between team members and share information from building sites and their developers.
Customers can use the platform to assign tasks to their workers, store digital copies of construction blueprints and share progress bulletins for a given project. Fieldwire intends to add an Australian office to existing branches in San Francisco, Arizona and France later this year.
The capital injection brought the company’s total funding to $40.4m, it said. The cash will drive business expansion and research and development.
Formation 8 led a $6.6m round for Fieldwire in 2015 that included media company Bloomberg’s corporate venturing affiliate, Bloomberg Beta, as well as Trinity Ventures and AngelPad.
Hilti subsequently provided an amount likely to be $300,000 for the company in a February 2018 strategic alliance deal that gave it a seat on Fieldwire’s board of directors.
