Ian Folau (pictured), previously chief executive of open-source vulnerability management platform provider GitLinks, has joined US-based nonprofit government management consulting firm Logistics Management Institute (LMI)’s new venturing fund, LMI Ventures.
LMI Ventures, which has hired Folau as a managing director, will finance early-stage startups developing technologies relevant to LMI’s customers’ needs, such as analytics, supply chain and healthcare management services.
The unit intends to bridge its portfolio companies to US federal government agencies in the process.
Folau co-founded GitLinks in 2015 while he was an MBA student at Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management. He remained CEO until the company was acquired for an undisclosed amount by online business applications service provider Infor in October 2018.
Regarding his new post, Folau said: “Pursuing government business can be a daunting and often resource-intensive endeavour for many startups.
“As a respected government solutions provider and not-for-profit organisation, LMI is an ideal partner to help these companies establish federal-sector relationships.
“I look forward to working with the LMI team and our funded partners to put new innovations to work on tough national challenges.”
