Maria Molland, currently the chief European officer for e-commerce company Fab.com, has been appointed to the board of directors for India-based online fashion retailer American Swan.
Molland’s previous employment history includes high-level roles at Yahoo, Thomson Reuters, Dow Jones and government department UK Trade & Investment, where she worked as a strategic advisor in the Venture Capital Unit. She is also currently working as an advisor for Ebay.
Under Molland’s stewardship, Fab.com’s European revenue increased by about 40%, making it one of the fastest growing e-commerce companies in the US. The appointment of Molland represents American Swan’s commitment to expand internationally, and the company believes her e-commerce experience in Europe will help achieve this.
American Swan is also hoping to increase its Indian revenues by improving its visibility through aggregators like Myntra, Jabong, Flipkart and digital media conglomerate Four Cross Media. The Indian e-commerce industry alone is expected to be worth $34.2bn by 2015.
