China-based conglomerate Fosun has launched the fourth edition of its accelerator program to focus on startups developing health, financial and insurance technology.
The program, dubbed Protechting, has been launched in partnership with three of the corporate’s portfolio companies; health care group Luz Saude, insurance firm Fidelidade and financial services provider Hauck & Aufhauser.
Fosun said the program will focus on developing international projects that help improve the protection of people across healthtech, insurtech and fintech, though it will have an increase focus on sustainable development issues.
The latest edition will adopt a wider scouting net than its predecessors, with partners and entrepreneurial events in South America, Africa, Europe and China.
Jorge Magalhaes Correia, chief executive at Fidelidade, said: “With the launch of Protechting 4.0 we consolidate our program in the international context, extending the geographic scope to the countries and regions where Fidelidade is present, such as Peru and Macao.
“This year’s edition will also focus on social entrepreneurship, seeking to integrate startups with added value to the community in terms of social sustainability.”
Following the corporate’s first three programs, Fosun has helped 33 startup pilot projects collaborate with its portfolio companies, with five startups going on to sign commercial agreements.
