US-based talent manager United Talent Agency (UTA) has hired Clinton Foy as a venture capital partner for its corporate venturing arm, UTA Ventures.
UTA Ventures incubates and backs companies developing media and entertainment technology products. His new role will involve Foy helping unit head Sam Wick conduct equity investments and build fund strategies.
The move comes after nearly eight years as a managing director and venture partner at venture capital firm Crosscut Ventures from 2013, where Foy invested in a score of entertainment and gaming technology companies including Streamlabs, Immortals and PlayVS.
In addition to Crosscut, Foy had also been a consumer and gaming technology-focused investor for private equity firm Warburg Pincus since 2020, and he will remain a senior adviser at the firm after joining UTA Ventures.
Foy said: “I am thrilled to join the UTA Ventures team to grow and diversify the company’s direct investing and new venture funds…The opportunity to fund and build the future of tech, entertainment and new platforms with top creators, gamers, artists, talent and athletes is truly a privilege.”
