Constance Freedman, the founder of National Association of Realtors’ venture capital unit, Second Century Ventures (SCV), has founded a US-based early-stage VC fund called Moderne Ventures.
Freedman launched SCV in 2009, subsequently managing it as the Association’s head of strategic investments. She also launched its accelerator, REach, in 2013.
Prior to joining SCV, Freedman was an investor at early and growth-stage investment fund Cue Ball, which focused on the information services and consumer sectors.
Freedman is managing partner of Moderne, which will target startups developing technology in the real estate, mortgage, finance, insurance and home services sectors.
The firm will also draw on a 200-strong network of corporations and executives that will act as investors, mentors and advisors to Moderne and its portfolio companies.
