Singapore-based social game developer Game Ventures has closed an SGD$800,000 (US$620,000) funding round involving Infocomm Investments, the venture capital division of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, as well as internet innovation company Digital Garage and venture capital fund Neoteny Labs, according to a report on Asia technology website Penn-Olson on Sunday.
Neoteny previously funded a US$350,000 series A round for Game Ventures in mid-2010 that was also backed by seed investment fund BAF Spectrum, governmental agency Spring Singapore, and angel investors Jayesh Parekh, Varsha Rao and Jai Maroo.
Additionally, Parekh and Digital Garage were both among the contributors to Neoteny’s initial investment fund.
Game Ventures’ focus is on sporting games for social and mobile platforms, which are generally published via Facebook and sports media company ESPN. Best known for Howzat Cricket, Game Ventures’ next two releases are to focus on the internationally popular games of football and basketball.
