Alcoholic beverage producer Radeberger has provided €8m ($8.6m) in series B funding for Germany-based point-of-sale technology developer Gastrofi.
Gastrofix has developed a cloud-based point-of-sale system aimed at the hospitality sector. The company was originally launched in 1990 but failed during the dot-com bubble before being sold to rival TCPOS in 2001.
Chief executive Dirk Owerfeldt bought back the rights to the Gastrofix brand in 2011 and relaunched the company.
The series B funding will be used to support growth and to stay competitive against local rivals such as Orderbird, which raised $22.5m in a May 2016 series C round featuring retailer Metro Group.
Gastrofix previously received $4m in a series A round led by Entrée Capital in late 2015. The company had raised an undisclosed sum from an unnamed Germany-based venture capital fund and various angel investors in 2013, following an undisclosed commitment from private investors in 2011.
