Preshit Gawade has been promoted to executive director of new energies at the US energy tech group Baker Hughes, after serving a year as senior director of the company’s new energy frontier division.
Gawade has worked for more than three years at Baker Hughes. Starting off as the senior manager for strategy and market intelligence, Gawade has risen through the ranks, helping find new forms of energy products and energy output. Under the new energies division of Baker Hughes, Gawade will focus solely on renewable and refillable sources of energy.
Baker Hughes has been involved in the funding of various startups, including the US diagnostics and analysis technology developer Augury. In 2021, Baker Hughes led a $180m series E round to propel the startup’s monitoring systems, which check the functioning of industrial machinery through extensive data and advanced sensors.
Baker Hughes provides companies within the oil and gas industry services from drilling to reservoir consulting. In 2019, a merger with US conglomerate General Electric fell through.
