Holger Wagner joined EnBW New Ventures, the corporate venture capital (CVC) arm of Germany-based energy company EnBW as senior investment manager in 2016, where he invests into companies making waves in the energy, mobility and urban transportation sectors.
Crispin Leick, managing director of EnBW New Ventures, said of Wagner: “He is managing a big portion of our total portfolio and has led our investment thesis into the cloud computing space with Gridscale and Replex as well as our investment into the data integration platform Greenbird.”
Before joining EnBW New Ventures, Wagner served as senior investment manager at Deutsche Telekom Strategic Investment from 2009 to 2016, before which he worked as head of project management security and infrastructure services at T-Systems International.
A more recent addition to the team, Marc Umber joined in 2019 in the same capacity as Wagner following a three-year stint in a similar role at High-Tech Gründerfonds, where he focused on a range of tech investments including data analytics, software-as-a-service, enterprise software, fintech, insurtech and software programming.
Regarding Umber, Leick said: “Since [joining in March 2019], Marc has led our successful exit from our investment in Lumenaza, has led our drive into the augmented reality space with our investment into Holo-Light and has just closed our new foray into the – not yet published but closed – investment into digital intraday algo trading, which supports the Energiewende by enabling more renewables and variable loads like batteries into the electricity market.”
