GCV Emerging Leaders 2022: Rachel Muzyczka

Rachel Muzyczka is investment director at DMG Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of UK-headquartered media group Daily Mail and General Trust.

Muzyczka’s remit includes sourcing, execution, portfolio management and strategy and serving on the boards of multiple portfolio companies.

Regarding her role, Muzyczka said: “I am responsible for managing a number of DMG Ventures’ early-stage tech and digital investments and minority positions.

“I also spend time sourcing new investments and working with DMG Media to help build the brand and market presence of our portfolio companies.”

The unit typically invests in late seed to series A-stage companies, initially investing between £1m ($1.3m) and £5m ($6.6m), split evenly between cash and media.

Its portfolio includes companies such as used car marketplace Cazoo, real estate platform Zoopla, ad recommendations company Taboola, will writing service Farewill, second-hand luxury good marketplace Cudoni, digital textbook provider Kortext, online estate agent Yopa, virtual payment car Zilch and digital brand investor factory14.

Prior to joining the firm in April 2018, Muzyczka worked for nearly two years as venture capital associate at Talis Capital, before which she held a three-year stint as senior tech mergers and acquisitions analyst at Hampleton Partners, focused on fintech, insurance technology, business-to-business e-commerce, automotive technology and consumer apps.

She holds an master of science in economic and international history from London School of Economics and a bachelor’s degree in international history and French from Queen Mary University of London.
