Mukaya “Tai” Panich is chief venture and investment officer at SCB 10X, the corporate venturing arm of Thailand-headquartered financial services firm Siam Commercial Bank.
Talking about one of her greatest achievements with the unit, Panich said: “It has been a great success to drive SCB 10X investments in the blockchain and decentralised finance (DeFI) space, where we aim to be the leading player in Southeast Asia. Blockchain and DeFi startups have the potential to meaningful impact the financial sector in multiple ways.”
Describing what attracted her to corporate venture, Panich mentioned “the opportunity to work with highly passionate and driven startups’ founders and invest in companies at the cutting edge of disruptive technology and innovation”.
Before joining SCB 10X, Panich worked in the investment management industry for 14 years, developing strong expertise in investing in technology companies – both private and public – across the deep tech, AI, robotics, semiconductor, enterprise software and hardware, internet, media and fintech sectors.
In her previous role, she was a portfolio manager for five years, running a Pan-Asian fund for Pictet Asset Management, with a focus on investing in listed technology companies.
Prior to this, she was senior vice-president at Marathon Asset Management for two years, focusing on investments in the technology, petrochemical and consumer industries across Asia.
