GCV Emerging Leaders Awards 2021: Arun Chetty and Tianlin Wang

Arun Chetty has been with Intel Capital, the corporate venture capital (CVC) unit of the US-listed semiconductor producer, since 2004. As a managing director, he focuses on the wireless ecosystem covering 5G and wireless connectivity technologies, edge compute, sensors, human-machine interface, enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) and conversational AI platforms, gaming and esports, and augmented and virtual reality.

Dave Flanagan, senior managing director and vice-president of Intel Capital, said of Chetty: “Arun has a well-documented and successful investment track record that spans over 20-plus years. Arun’s deep knowledge and passion for technology as well as his strong history and commitment to company building has made Arun a well-respected and valued investor in the startup and venture capital community.”

Chetty said: “Some of my best investments [exited through IPO or M&A] include VeriSilicon, Babble Labs, Espressif Semiconductor, Telink Semiconductor, Delta ID, Mindmeld, Recon Instruments, Validity, Aicent and LanDesk. My current investments and board responsibilities include Bluestacks, Avaamo, NextInput, OnScale, Axonne and AdHawk Microsystems.”

Managing director Tianlin Wang, on the other hand, has been concurrently a China country manager for Intel Capital since 2017.

Regarding Wang’s track record, Anthony Lin, vice-president and senior managing director of Intel Capital, said: “Tianlin leverages his deep tech knowledge and prior years of experience as an engineer at Intel to provide valuable counsel to our portfolio companies. He understands the many challenges that entrepreneurs face from both on the business and technical side and is a trusted resource and advisor for our portfolio companies. He has built a strong team and has added immeasurable value to our investment program.”

Wang concentrates on semiconductor, cloud computing, the internet of things, AI and wireless communication, having led deals including Huaqin, EspressIf, EazyTec and EEasy. He has also served on the boards of more than 20 other companies.
