Meryem Aydin is an investment analyst at Amadeus Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of Spain-based travel technology provider Amadeus IT Group. She joined the team in February 2019 as a junior investment analyst as part of business school Icex-Ceco’s MBA programme, before taking up her current role the year after.
Suzanna Chiu, head of Amadeus Ventures, said: “Meryem Aydin has been working at the Amadeus Ventures team for two and a half years and has shown great potential to flourish in the industry.
“She has been focusing on building airport and airline pipeline and has built a network of relationships with close ecosystem partners despite the pandemic.
“She has played a significant role in a few of our follow-on rounds in the last 12 months. She has also put together a framework that enables the team to keep track of our strategic KPIs and information flow between ourselves and our portfolio companies.”
Aydin said her objective is to identify and promote new use cases between the portfolio companies and the Amadeus business units. “I support the smooth running of processes, for example, portfolio management and tracking and transactions – investments, follow-ons and exits.
“I also contribute to the communication efforts of the team both internally and externally. I attend and participate at events as well as act as jury to help expand our ecosystem.”
Prior to joining Amadeus Ventures, Aydin had spent a year at the trade commission of the embassy of Spain in Chicago as an international trade adviser. In addition to the aforementioned MBA degree from Icex-Ceco, Aydin also holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Rey Juan Carlos University.
