Riskive, a US-based cybersecurity software startup, has secured $2.2m in seed funding from Genacast Ventures (a seed fund formed in partnership between serial entrepreneur Gil Beyda and with Comcast Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of entertainment and cable communications company Comcast Corporation, to invest in technology-centric internet start-ups), venture capital firm Core Capital and a group of angel investors including Frank Bonsal, Greg Cangliosi, Bill Boyle and Andrew Eye.
Gil Beyda, founder and managing partner at Genacast Ventures, said: “Riskive brings a first-mover advantage to the market because it identifies social-based threats before they have the opportunity to inflict serious damage.”
Mark Levine, managing director, Core Capital, said: “Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are just a few of the great social tools that have emerged as a new vector leveraged by cyber criminals. Riskive was an attractive investment opportunity because of the technology, the team and tremendous advisory board its assembled to fight against this emergence of social threats against not only consumers, but business and government entities.”
Riskive, founded at the beginning of 2013, defines itself as a social risk management company and provides a cloud-based security platform to enterprise and government customers to counter threats emanating from social networks. Riskive was declared Maryland Incubator Company of the Year 2013.
