Giga soars to ClearSky role

Asif Giga has departed from his investment director role at Ericsson Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of Sweden-based communications equipment manufacturer Ericsson, and joined venture capital and growth equity firm ClearSky.

Ericsson Ventures had hired Giga in 2018 and tasked him with investing in areas strategic for its parent firm, including networking systems, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, augmented and virtual reality technology.

Giga’s role at the unit included sourcing and leading investments for computing technology developer Pensando Systems, network security system provider SAM Seamless Network, software development platform WeaveWorks and Juvo, which operates a financial identity authentication app.

Giga had previously held a one-year director stint at Experian Ventures, a subsidiary of credit services provider Experian, after spending two years from 2015 at another corporate venturing unit, Singtel Innov8 Ventures, part of telecommunications firm Singapore Telecommunications.

Founded in 2012 and headquartered in the US state of Florida, ClearSky is investing through two funds: the enterprise power technology-focused ClearSky Power & Technology and ClearSky Security, which targets companies working on cyber, industrial and critical infrastructure security.

Regarding Giga’s new role, ClearSky said on LinkedIn: “He will be based in Silicon Valley and will help to extend our [US] west coast presence.”
