The Dutch private equity firm is looking to deploy more of its third healthcare fund backed by Royal Dutch Philips’s corporate venturing unit, after it sealed its first investment in November last year.
Gilde backed Inova Labs, a medical device company focused on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, in the first investment of its third healthcare fund in November, as part of a $17.5m series B round. Geoff Pardo of Gilde Healthcare Partners has joined the board at Inova Labs. The round was also backed by Inova’s existing investor Three Arch Partners. Inova was founded in 2002.
Inova raised $10m in 2010 in its series A with Three Arch as its sole investor.
Janke Dittmer joined Gilde as a partner last year. The move followed Philips providing the cornerstone commitment to the planned €200m ($250m) Gilde Healthcare Partners fund in August 2010.
