Globant Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of New York-listed media services provider Globant, has published details spotted by trade body Lavca on a $10m fund to invest in startups working to mitigate the negative effects of technology.
The BeKind Fund is looking at early-stage startups regardless of geography but tackling issues around data privacy, artificial intelligence bias, online abuse and polarization, Lavca said.
Martín Migoya, Globant CEO and co-founder, said: “When misapplied or misused, [tech’s] impact can be negative. This needs to be addressed to ensure tech is beneficial for humanity as a whole, and we need to act now.”
“The synergy of Globant’s reinvention approach, Globant Ventures’ entrepreneurs support and Globant’s Be Kind initiative uniquely positions the BeKindTech Fund to make a real difference and help us create great impact in the near future,” added Guibert Englebienne, co-founder of Globant and president of Globant X.
Globant Ventures has previously done a handful of deals, including Digital House’s $50m round and the A round for the language learning app developer Elsa.
