Google and Reed Elsevier aid Rocket Lawyer

Rocket Lawyer, a US-based legal information website backed by search engine company Google and publisher Reed Elsevier, has raised $7m in its third round of funding.

Investor Growth Capital, the venture division of Sweden-listed investment company Investor, led the series C round for Rocket.

The company previously raised money from LexisNexis, a data provider division of Reed Elsevier. David Palmieri, vice president of consumer services at LexisNexis, is on Rocket’s board having replaced Ralph Calistri, senior vice president of global client development at LexisNexis, after the strategic partnership was put in place last year.

Also on board is David Drummond, chief legal officer of Google, and Rocket has recently hired Jen Mazzon from Google to lead its product management team.

More than 10 million people visited Rocket Lawyer in the past year to access legal documents and services from lawyers nationwide.
