Google finds its divine beauty

Google Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of US-listed search engine, has joined a consortium providing an undisclosed amount of seed round funding to Astrid, a local developer of a to-do list for Google’s Android mobile phone platform.

Venture capital firm Nexus Venture Partners and angel investors also backed Astrid, which means divine beauty.

Earlier in the year, Stanford university graduates Tim Su, Astrid’s co-founder and chief technology officer, and Jon Paris, Astrid co-founder and chief executive, joined the start-up accelerator AngelPad, which was set up by a group of ex-Google executives and has previously seen incubees Crittercism and Shopobot receive Google Ventures backing.
