Google’s London team reportedly starts to take shape

Google Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of internet company Google, has assembled the team that will open its forthcoming European branch in London, Breitbart.com has reported citing undisclosed sources.

The founding partners will include angel investor Peter Read and Tom Hulme, the design director of design and consultancy firm IDEO and a prominent figure amongst UK angel investors, having advised London’s Tech City since 2012. Both will serve as venture partners.

Additional partners reportedly already secured for the office are Rohan Silva, an entrepreneur-in-residence for venture capital firm Index Ventures and the co-founder of startups Spacious and Second Home, Eze Vidra, who is currently the Head of Google for Entrepreneurs Europe, and a woman, who has not yet been identified.

No firm details have been disclosed about the new office, but the level of funds it will have access to is likely to be set between $100m and $250m, according to four London-based venture capitalists consulted for the article.

Reports first emerged in late May stating that Google would seek to establish a European base in East London, near the city’s Tech City technology cluster. Google itself is yet to make an official announcement.
