Gradient Ventures returns for Streamlit series B

US-based machine learning app development platform Streamlit picked up $35m yesterday in series B round backed by Gradient Ventures, the artificial intelligence investment vehicle operated by internet technology provider Google.

Venture capital firm Sequoia Capital led the round with participation from fellow VC firm GGV Capital. It increased the company’s funding to $62m since it was founded in 2018.

Streamlit provides an open-source app framework used by data scientists to develop machine learning and data science applications. Its software has been downloaded nearly 2 million times and is used by companies such as consumer electronics producer Apple, carmaker Ford and ride hailing service Uber.

The company received $21m in series A round co-led by Gradient Ventures and GGV Capital in June 2020 that also featured Bloomberg Beta, the VC firm sponsored by media group Bloomberg, in addition to angel investors Elad Gil and Daniel Gross.

Gradient Ventures had already led Streamlit’s $6m seed round in October 2019, participating alongside Bloomberg Beta and assorted individuals.
