Grailed gets a grip on $15m

Grailed, the US-based operator of a curated men’s fashion e-commerce platform, has completed a $15m series A round that included Simon Ventures, the corporate venturing vehicle for property developer Simon.

Index Ventures led the round, which also featured fellow venture capital firm Thrive Capital. Danny Rimer, general partner at Index Ventures, will join the company’s board of directors in connection with the round.

Founded in 2013, Grailed runs an online marketplace for men’s clothing items that are curated by fashion experts, and launched a female-focused offshoot called Heroine in 2017.

Grailed’s co-founder and chief executive, Arun Gupta, said: “Grailed was born out of a shared love for menswear, and we could not be more grateful for the overwhelming customer and industry response we’ve seen in the past five years.

“We are excited to create an even stronger community and expand our product offering to serve a fast-growing base of men’s and women’s fashion customers all over the world – with a trusted point of view they cannot find anywhere else.”

The company has now raised a total of $20m, it said, $1.6m of which came in a 2015 round according to a regulatory filing. Both Simon Ventures and Thrive Capital took part in the round as existing investors.
