Private equity firm Great Hill Partners has acquired EnterpriseDB, a US-based enterprise software developer backed by corporates KT, Red Hat, IBM, NTT and Sony, for an undisclosed amount.
EnterpriseDB has developed an open source-based data management platform that helps more than 4,000 customers handle transaction processing, data warehousing, customer analytics and web-based applications.
In 2011, the company increased a funding round backed by telecommunications firm KT, Translink Capital, Valhalla Partners, Charles River Ventures (CRV) and Volition Partners to $13.6m following an extension that featured undisclosed investors.
KT and TransLink Capital had previously provided a funding round of undisclosed size in 2010.
In October 2009, NTT Investment Partners, the corporate venturing unit of telecommunications group NTT, provided an unspecified amount through a strategic partnership agreement.
That deal came weeks after software developer Red Hat had taken part in a $19m series C round alongside computing technology producer IBM, CRV, Valhalla and Volition Partners, then known as Fidelity Investments.
Volition led a $16.5m series B round in 2006, investing alongside Valhalla and CRV, which coincided with a $3.5m credit facility from Comerica Bank. Entertainment and consumer electronics group Sony joined CRV and Valhalla for a $7m series A round earlier the same year.
