Gross-Selbeck to move from BCG Digital Ventures

Stefan Gross-Selbeck (pictured) is set to leave BCG Digital Ventures, the open innovation arm of consulting firm Boston Consulting Group, after nearly eight years in charge, he revealed yesterday.

Gross-Selbeck launched BCG Digital Ventures’ Berlin office as managing director in 2014, before transitioning to global managing partner of the vehicle four years later, overseeing its European activities along with its global innovation and investment hub.

The move will come at the end of 2022, when Gross-Selbeck will move to head up a new BCG subsidiary which will concentrate on climate change technology.

“My journey at BCG is not over,” Gross-Selbeck said. “Going forward I will have the opportunity to focus my energy on a topic which has come very close to my heart: how to leverage innovation and technology to address the global climate crisis.

“I am thrilled to become the global Topic Leader Climate Tech for BCG – a newly established group that focuses on enabling our clients to achieve their sustainability goals through innovation and business building – working with colleagues across BCG to contribute to addressing the biggest challenge of our generation.”

Before joining BCG, Gross-Selbeck had spent four years as chief executive of professional social network Xing, following six in executive roles at online auction platform eBay. He also has experience as an angel investor, having backed startups including employment recommendation platform developer Jobspotting.
