France-based web bookmarking service Pearltrees secured €5m ($6.7m) in series B funding on 13th February in a round led by the France-based diversified holding company Groupe Accueil.
Prior to the latest round, Pearltrees had raised about $4.6m over three venture rounds between 2008 and 2010. Groupe Accueil was among the earlier investors but the remainder are yet to be disclosed by Pearltrees.
Pearltrees operates a social bookmarking service that allows users to arrange their favourite web pages into strings of ‘pearls’ representing their themed interests.
The capital will be used by Pearltrees to scale and monetise its service. Pearltrees estimates that it has grown by a rate of 15% a month since its December 2009 launch to reach one million unique visitors and 350,000 contributors.
