US-based virtual reality software developer Envelop VR has closed its series A round at $5.5m after securing $1.5m from GV, the corporate venturing unit formerly known as Google Ventures, according to GeekWire.
The series A, which also featured venture capital firm Madrona Venture Group, reached a $4m initial close in October 2015. It followed a $2m seed round backed by an assortment of angel investors in June last year.
Envelop is developing productivity software called Envelop Virtual Environment for VR headsets like the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive which will enable enterprise users to work and collaborate in a virtual environment.
Bob Berry, co-founder and chief executive of Envelop VR, said: “We feel very fortunate to have Joe and GV with us as an investment partner.
“Along with the team at Madrona Venture Group and our other angel investors, we are now well positioned to bring our software to market in the coming months. 2016 is sure to be an exciting year for the immersive tech industry, and we are thrilled to be a part of it.”
