US-based medical data portal operator H1 Insights closed a $12.9m series A round yesterday featuring Novartis DRX, a venture capital partnership between pharmaceutical firm Novartis and mobile chipmaker Qualcomm.
The round was led by venture capital firm Menlo Ventures and included Y Combinator, Liquid 2 Ventures, Underscore VC, ClearPoint Investment, angel investor Jeff Hammerbacher and Baron Davis Enterprises, the private investment office for retired basketball professional Baron Davis.
H1 Insights has built a database software platform that uses machine learning to help connect healthcare companies with qualified professionals.
The database features more than 8 million talent profiles and 16,000 organisations spanning 70 countries, as well as details for 350,000 clinical trials and 700 medical societies. Greg Yap, partner at Menlo Ventures, has joined H1’s board of directors in connection with the round.
The company has raised almost $20m of funding in total according to VentureBeat, though it has not revealed details of earlier financing.
