Indonesia-based telemedicine platform operator Halodoc secured $80m yesterday in a series C round led by Astra Digital Internasional, a subsidiary of diversified conglomerate Astra International.
Pharmaceutical firm Novo and e-commerce company Blibli took part directly while insurance group, Allianz, telecommunications firm Singtel Group and mobile network operator Telkomsel invested through Allianz X, Singtel Innov8 and Telkomsel Mitra Inovasi respectively.
The round was filled out by financial services firms Bangkok Bank and United Overseas Bank, the latter through its UOB Venture Management subsidiary, as well as Singaporean state-owned investment firm Temasek, Acrew Diversify Capital Fund and Openspace Ventures. Astra invested $35m, according to its first-quarter financial results.
Founded in 2016, Halodoc operates an online platform that lets users book virtual consultations with more than 20,000 licensed doctors located across Indonesia.
The company recently launched an appointment service that connects patients to more than 2,000 healthcare providers including hospitals, clinics and laboratories.
Allianz X joined insurance firm Prudential and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to provide an undisclosed amount of series B-plus funding for Halodoc in July 2019.
Halodoc had raised $65m in a series B round in March 2019 that was led by UOB Venture Management and which also featured pharmaceutical firm WuXi AppTec, Singtel Innov8 and Korea Investment Partners.
Investment firm Clermont Group led the company’s $13m series A round in 2016, partcipating alongside on-demand ride service provider Go-Jek, Blibli and Openspace Ventures, then known as NSI Ventures.
