Indonesia-based grocery delivery platform HappyFresh has received $12m in series A funding from Sinar Mas Digital Ventures, the corporate venturing division of conglomerate Sinar Mas, Tech in Asia reported earlier today.
Beenext, backed by e-commerce company Beenos, and 500 Startups, backed by marketing firm Dentsu and internet company Yahoo Japan, took part in the round led by Vertex Ventures, the investment vehicle of Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund Temasek.
Asia Venture Group, Ardent Capital and Cherry Ventures also contributed funds.
Founded in October 2014, HappyFresh enables consumers to order groceries online from established supermarkets, and delivers the products within an hour. The service is currently available in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan.
The company hopes to expand to more markets in the near future, starting with Manila, the capital of the Philippines.
HappyFresh raised an undisclosed sum of seed funding from unnamed investors in March 2015.
