Hawthorne catches Cargill for new role

Peter Hawthorne formerly vice-president of corporate strategy and development for agribusiness Cargill, has taken an operating director position at US-based private equity firm Paine Schwartz Partners.

Hawthorne had held the role at Cargill for 12 years up until September 2018 and oversaw corporate venturing investments for the company as well as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and spinoffs.

Paine Schwartz focuses on sustainable food deals, investing in food and agribusiness technology and service providers.

Hawthorne said: “I look forward to applying my global experience investing in, building and running ag, food, and related tech and industrial companies.

“I have known and respected the team at Paine Schwartz for their leadership in sustainable food chain investing. I am excited about working closely with them as part of the overall investment process and building value at portfolio companies.”
