Nigeria-based digital health services provider Helium Health has raised $10m in a series A round backed by internet group Tencent, TechCrunch reported today.
Venture capital firm Global Ventures and US government-backed Africa Healthcare Masterfund co-led the round, which also included accelerator Y Combinator.
Founded in 2016, Helium Health runs a digital healthcare platform to help healthcare providers and insurance companies to digitise their operations, offering functionality such as managing financial and medical records. Its offering also includes a telemedicine platform.
The service is available across Nigeria, Ghana and Liberia and the funding will enable an expansion into additional markets, including Kenya, Morocco, Rwanda and Uganda.
The round will also allow Helium Health to launch additional features, including the ability to schedule appointments and share information between providers and patients.
Global Ventures will appoint a representative to Helium Health’s board of directors.
