HelpSystems validates Vera purchase

Financial services firm Capital One has exited US-based data protection software provider Vera in an acquisition of undisclosed size by enterprise IT security and automation software provider HelpSystems.

Vera has built a cloud-based data security platform used to encrypt and log sensitive information sent from enterprises to third parties. HelpSystems expects Vera’s products to strengthen its existing data security technology portfolio.

The company raised $14m in a 2014 series A round led by Battery Ventures that included Amplify Partners and assorted angel investors, before adding $21m of series B funding in 2016 from Capital One’s Growth Ventures unit, Sutter Hill, Battery Ventures and Amplify Partners.

Hasso Plattner Ventures subsequently led a $15m series C round closed in 2017 that was backed by Capital One Growth Ventures, Battery Ventures, Sutter Hill Ventures, Clear Venture Partners, Amplify Partners and Leslie Ventures.
