Hesus ascends with corporate funding

Hesus, the France-based operator of a waste management service for construction sites, has received €10m ($11.3m) in funding from investors including water and waste treatment firm Suez Group and industrial group Bouygues Construction.

Paris Green Fund, a vehicle managed by investment firm Demeter and backed by the city of Paris, also took part in the round. Bouygues invested through its Construction Venture subsidiary while Suez contributed through its corporate venturing unit, Suez Ventures.

Hesus runs a digital platform that manages the process of removing and supplying soils, waste and materials from construction sites, taking waste from one location and delivering it to a separate site, utilising a network of more than 900 receiving facilities and 60 hauliers.

The funding will support the company’s international expansion plans through the opening of a branch in Poland later this year, adding to a UK site that opened in early 2018.

Construction Venture, state-owned investment bank BPIfrance and investment firm Audacia had provided $3.3m in funding for Hesus in July 2016.
