UK-based virtual event platform developer Hopin has received $40m in series A funding from investors including enterprise software provider Salesforce and communication platform developer Slack.
Venture capital firm IVP led the round, which was also backed by Accel, Northzone and Seedcamp. The corporates invested through subsidiaries Salesforce Ventures and Slack Fund.
Founded in 2019, Hopin is the creator of an online platform where small or large events can be hosted virtually, ranging from training workshops or recruitment sessions to full-scale conferences.
Alex Kayyal, the Salesforce Ventures partner who also serves as its head of Europe, Middle East and Africa and head of Asia Pacific, said: “Hopin has built the leading platform for enterprise events.
“Hopin’s breakthroughs make online events dynamic and relevant to today’s customer expectations, as they help event organizers provide greater value for sponsors while driving better sales leads. We are delighted to be an early investor and support Hopin’s virtual events strategy and growth.”
Accel led the startup’s $6.5m seed round in February this year, investing alongside Slack Fund, Northzone, Seedcamp and Amaranthine Fund, the corporate venturing arm of technology event promoter Web Summit.
