Hot property SmartZip raises $12m

US-based predictive marketing company SmartZip raised $12m in series B funding yesterday from investors including Intel Capital, the corporate venturing arm of chipmaker Intel.

The round was led by investment firm Crest Capital Ventures and also included venture capital firm Claremont Creek.

SmartZip provides an analytics-powered marketing automatic service to help real estate businesses secure customers. The platform combines specific housing attributes with client data to calculate which houses are more likely to sell.

The funding will allow SmartZip to accelerate its product development and expand its technology into additional sectors. SmartZip previously raised $2.1m in a series A round in 2009 from Claremont Creek, Step5 Venture Partners and Northpoint Financial Group.
