Joseph Huang (pictured), a vice-president at UMC Capital, the corporate venturing unit of Taiwan-based United Microelectronics (UMC), has left to become a principal at venture capital firm DCM’s China office.
Huang had been at UMC Capital for seven years and said on his LinkedIn page that he had invested in 14 companies in the Greater China technology, media and telecoms sector, including semiconductor design, telecom services, media and clean technologies. Three of these portfolio companies had listed on US stock exchanges and two sold to American companies, he added on his home page.
Separately, UMC Capital has acquired 1.5 million shares of China-based online games developer Winking Entertainment for $2m.
