Human Inc heads to $21m series B

US-based advanced headphones developer Human, Incorporated has completed a $21m series B round that included software provider Microsoft.

Venture capital firm Sage Venture Partners, private equity firm Ropart Asset Management and family office Sugar Mountain Capital co-led the round.

Human Inc is developing consumer technology products that are focused on the precise needs of human users. Its lead product is a pair of headphones that respond to voice control, and which are designed to be ultra comfortable.

Bill Moore, Human Inc’s chief executive, said: “We are very pleased to have a group of successful, forward-thinking investors who see the opportunity to disrupt the headphone market with our new innovative hybrid design.

“Human Headphones will offer users the convenience and mobility of earbuds, while also delivering the audio quality you would expect from over-the-ear headphones.”

The company secured $700,000 in a 2015 seed round and $5m in an April 2016 series A that included Kurt Beecher Dammeier, Sugar Mountain Capital’s CEO, as well as fellow angel investors Daniel Darling, who led the round, and Fred Warren.
