Tony Idugboe has moved to become head of mergers and acquisitions at Nigeria-based digital payments and commerce company Interswitch Group.
Idugboe had previously spent nearly three years as head of investments at Itanna, an impact initiative that invests in disruptive tech-enabled businesses in Africa.
He said at Interswitch, which launched its $10m global ePayment Growth Fund in 2015: “Venture investment is a key focus for us”.
Mitchell Elegbe founded Interswitch in Lagos in 2002 and is reportedly planning an initial public offering, according to technology news provider TechCrunch.
The company raised a reported $200m from payment services firm Visa’s corporate venturing unit in November 2019 at a $1bn valuation, as CVC deals on the continent increased last year.
