US-based genomics technology producer Illumina’s corporate venturing subsidiary, Illumina Ventures, has promoted Wouter Meuleman from principal to partner.
Part of the initial Illumina Ventures team when the unit was formed in 2016, Meuleman had been director of corporate and business development for Illumina since the previous year, a post he held until March 2019.
In his time at the unit, Meuleman has led investments in Biota Technology and Fluent Biosciences, where he also holds board seats, in addition to Delfi Genomics and Ribometrix.
Meuleman said: “During this unprecedented time, the public has become keenly aware of the importance of the biotechnology industry, whose advancements in testing, treatment and vaccination could ultimately save millions of lives.
