US-based data management software developer Imanis Data has secured $13.5m in funding from investors including corporate venturing subsidiaries of semiconductor manufacturer Intel and IT services provider Wipro.
Intel Capital and Wipro Ventures invested alongside venture capital firms Canaan Partners, Onset Ventures and Asset Plus Capital.
Imanis has built a data management platform that helps organisations handle data stored across a range of database platforms such as NoSQL, Hive or HBase. It employs machine learning to ease data functions such as file transfers, protection, and product testing or development.
John Mracek, formerly CEO of advertising technology provider NetSeer, has joined Imanis as chief executive. His appointment is expected to help meet product demand and enhance the company’s relationships with cloud database software operators.
Wipro invested $2.1m in Imanis in December 2017, after Wipro Ventures had participated in a $12m series A round disclosed by the company, then known as Talena, when it emerged from stealth in 2015, alongside Intel Capital, Canaan Partners and Onset Ventures.
