In-Q-Tel joins the conversation with Expect Labs

Expect Labs, a US-based voice recognition application company, has raised an undisclosed amount of strategic funding from In-Q-Tel, the venture capital fund supported by the US intelligence community.

Expect is the developer of MindMeld, an app that enables users to search through data using voice activated controls and developers to build voice enabled websites, apps or devices.

The partnership with In-Q-Tel will result in the application of Expect’s technology by government agencies searching through large amounts of data.

Expect Labs secured an undisclosed amount in May 2013 from the corporate venturing units of semiconductor maker Intel, electronics manufacturer Samsung and telecommunications network operator Telefonica.

The company previously raised $2.4m in seed funding in October 2012 from Google Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of internet company Google, IDG Ventures, a venture capital subsidiary of data and publishing group IDG, KPG Ventures, Greylock Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, Quest Venture Partners and angels.
