Intelligent Dialogue Systems (Indisys), a natural language company, has raised $5m from a consortium led by chip maker Intel’s corporate venturing unit in its first Spanish deal.
Marcos Battisti, managing director of Intel Capital in western Europe and Israel, said: “Intel Capital is pleased to have led the latest funding round in Indisys, our first investment in Spain. The company is at the forefront in the field of machine-human interactions, and we are very well placed to assist the company, by providing them with access to Intel Capital’s expertise and extensive network.”
Erik Jorgensen, investment director at Intel Capital, added: “Natural language dialogue will play an increasingly important role in the way people communicate with their devices.”
Ignacio Fonts, chief executive of venture capital firm Inveready, the other investor in Indisys, said: “Indisys is much more than a virtual assistant company. Speech interfaces are bound to become the key to intelligent human-machine interaction and Indisys dialogue technology will make these interfaces more flexible, intelligent and human-like.”
