Indonesia-based phone operator Indosat has raised a $50m corporate venturing fund in cooperation with Japan-based internet conglomerate Softbank.
The SB ISAT fund will invest in Indonesia-based e-commerce, digital and social media, and mobile financial services startups.
Alexander Rusli, CEO of Indosat, said after a Google translation: “Indosat’s commitment to invest and grow the ecosystem of digital services in Indonesia and has built a strong infrastructure of digital services including high speed internet service and work units that focus on mobile financial services, mobile advertising and e-commerce for customers.”
Indosat also runs the Indosat Wireless Innovation Contest (IWIC) and a startup accelerator in Indonesia, Ideabox.
