US-based product discovery platform Influenster has received $8m in series A funding from online cashback shopping service Ebates, a subsidiary of internet company Rakuten, TechCrunch reported yesterday.
The investment was made as part of a strategic collaboration agreement that also includes Ken Hirschmann, vice-president of strategic alliances at Ebates, joining Influenster’s board to guide that cooperation.
Founded in 2010, Influenster operates a website and app for users to share product reviews. The reviews are monitored and curated by Influenster and cover a vast array of consumer goods from food and fashion to electronics and home appliances.
The funding will enable Influnester to scale its growth. Influensta currently lists more than six million reviews for some 1.5 million products.
