Informa reveals corporate venturing plans

UK-based events and publishing group Informa has launched a corporate venturing fund called Informa Ventures that will focus on startups operating in the knowledge and information economy.

Founded in 1998, Informa produces academic books, journals and data-driven intelligence publications, as well as providing services such as exhibition and conference planning to commercial, professional and academic communities in more than 30 countries.

Informa Ventures is operating out of offices in London and New York, and will target deals at seed and series A stage. It is being led by managing partners Richard Stanton and Max Gabriel.

Stanton said: “We love it when a founding team is passionate about what they do, has ambitious goals and makes us think differently about our businesses.

“Our investment focus is on startups that operate in the global market for information services, and who foresee and can seize on commercial opportunities that arise from the adoption of new technologies and changes in human behaviour and business practices.”
