Inkbox, the Canada-based creator of semi-permanent tattoos, has received $13m in a series A round backed by Novel TMT, the corporate venturing arm of telecommunications company Novel Group.
Venture capital firm Maveron led the round, which also featured Founders Fund, Cassius, Golden Ventures, KDWC Capital and Flight Ventures. It included $3m of venture debt from Silicon Valley Bank.
Inkbox has developed a process it claims can create the first realistic semi-permanent tattoos. It will put the funding toward increasing headcount, developing new tattoo technologies and growing its artist marketplace.
The company has now raised a total of $16m, including a $1m seed round backed by angel investors Jeff Probst and Alison Sweeney, and an unannounced $2m seed-plus round led by Golden Ventures.
