500Friends, a US-based online loyalty services provider, has raised $5m in series B round from a consortium led by repeat investor Intel Capital, the corporate venturing unit of the eponymous chip maker.
The company also raised $2m in debt.
Alongside Intel Capital in the B round was new investor Fung Capital, the corporate venturing unit of logistics company Li & Fung, and venture capital firm Crosslink Capital. Carey Lai, partner at Intel Capital, and Michael Hsieh, head of Fung Capital, are both joining 500Friends’ board.
In March last year, 500Friends raised $4.5m in its A round from Crosslink Capital and Intel Capital. The company was founded in 2011 by Justin Yoshimura, then-22, who has been an angel investor in start-ups, including Hipmunk and Zencoder.
